Olympic Park Velodrome
The Olympic velodrome project in Bankstown Sydney is a landmark building in sports architecture and is recognised as the leading competition and training venue for track cycling. Arcadia is proud to have been involved in this sustainable and environmentally efficient project.
This project designed by Paul Ryder, Ryder SJPH Partnership incorporates a Zest® elliptical aluminium operable sunscreen system which has a layer of light reflection finish allowing light to be captured and reflected into the Velodrome. The Arcadia electrically operable louvre system was integrated into the roof structure and was a key part of bringing light into the building on race day of the 2000 Olympics in Sydney.
This project has been awarded IOC/IAKS 2003 Silver Medal for Sport& Leisure Architecture, 2001 RAIA Award for Ecologically Sustainable Design and the RAIA Merit Award for Architecture.
